The SWAT team was called to a local school after a woman mistook her husband’s “butt dial” cell phone call for a hostage situation. The standoff lasted for three hours and drew the attention of residents and media helicopters. It was finally called off when the husband was found safe at home by police.
Heaps of snow and uncollected garbage broke the fall of a man who attempted suicide by jumping from the 9th floor of a Midtown Manhattan building. He was in critical condition later that day.
Masashi Osawa broke into a small car parked in an electronics store parking lot, stealing a PlayStation Portable and several CDs worth about $173. He then proceeded to take the items into the electronics store, intending to resell them for cash. However, the store clerk suspected they were his property and while checking his car, another staffer called the police, leading to Osawa’s arrest.
